EXU E4 in brief
Pointed south on Gilmore’s glitter-trailing cart, the Crown Keepers’ road trip is hijacked by Fearne’s homesickness — a wordless pull that drags them off the path to the very fey gate she crossed into this world. But home answers with a monster: a charred, fanged future-Fearne sent by the Unforgiving High Warqueen of the Burning Vale to drag her back before she ends up an outcast like her parents. In the fight, the party closes ranks — Dariax burns a spell healing the companion he claims to hate, Orym shields Fearne’s heart, Fearne cuts down her own dark double, and a stranger from the trees, Fy’ra Rai, takes its head. Opal, refusing to the last to beg her patron-sister Ted for the magic that would save her, bleeds unconscious — and in her dark place, she and Ted finally trade the truth beneath their cruelty, Ted restoring her power as proof of love.
A Syngorn elf, Myr’atta, seals the breach but reads Opal’s mind uninvited, and Fy’ra’s Gift catches the lie: one hungry mind planted a seed in the group that followed them out. Fy’ra joins them, bound by a familiarity that echoes the party’s lost week.
They reach Byroden, Opal’s hometown, mid-festival — and learn Ted physically vanished from town a year ago, a fact the voice in Opal’s head never shared. The Keepers crash the Gem of Byroden pageant, and Opal, backed by the family she made on the road, wins. She leaves her crown on her missing sister’s bed. The episode closes on Ted, alone in the dark, as the planted seed begins to grow. Unresolved: the Warqueen, the seed, Ted’s disappearance, the Qoniira quest still ahead.
