C3 E1 in brief

November 2025·1 min readCovers through C3E1 — spoilers to there, none beyond

Three separate threads converge in the spire-city of Jrusar. Imogen Temult and Laudna, two outsiders sheltering with an elderly woman named Zhudanna, are stonewalled at the Starpoint Conservatory’s library — Imogen quietly chasing the source of her own unruly telepathy, which leaks strangers’ thoughts into her head uninvited. Ashton Greymoore, a broken-and-gold-patched local, shows his cheerful automaton companion Fresh Cut Grass around the Spire by Fire Inn. And a skyship delivers Orym, Fearne, and Dorian — sent by Keyleth on an Ashari errand Orym treats as cover for a private hunt (a man named Oshad Breshio, someone called “The Anger”).

A spilled cart’s contents animate into a deadly tantrum of sword, knife, broom, rug, and table, forcing all eight strangers to fight side by side before they’ve traded names — and they move like a team that doesn’t know it is one yet. The brawl draws Sir Bertrand Bell, a blustering old knight who dangles a job from the reclusive Lord Eshteross. Over food and a shared night at the inn, the strangers trade origins: FCG’s grief over an adventuring party he couldn’t save, Fearne’s insistence that his sadness proves he has a soul, Laudna’s three-word dismissal of Whitestone.

The next morning Bertrand leads them into Eshteross Manor — and Lord Ariks Eshteross, a scarred old orc, mocks Bertrand’s bravado, demands the party prove themselves, locks the door, and charges. The premiere ends mid-lunge. Unresolved: Imogen’s magic and its source, Orym’s hunt, who set the cart off, and what Eshteross actually wants.
